The Girard Police Department welcomes you to our on-line departmental information. The goal of our department is to provide a progressive law enforcement presence for the community, realizing that our primary objective is to the protection of life and property. Additionally, the Department is responsible for enforcing codes and ordinances as set forth in the Uniform Public Offense Code and the Standard Traffic Ordinance for Kansas Cities. We will accomplish this through the development of mutual trust in serving and protecting the citizens and visitors of Girard through professional integrity and a passion for serving the citizens and community.
The department is a full-time staff comprised of the following positions: Chief of Police, Captain, Detective, School Resource Officer, and Patrol Officers.
Other duties include enforcing animal control and assisting in the capture of reported stray animals, conducting motor vehicle inspections, identification and removal of inoperable vehicles, verifying proper installation of child safety seats, child passenger safety, Project DARE and Crime Prevention Program.
